BBL Photofacial in Toledo

I Need a HERO: BBL HERO Photofacials at Blush

Sometimes we all need a “HERO”. Our BBL™ HERO photofacial helps diminish spots, dots, browns, reds, fine lines, wrinkles, acne, rosacea, sun damage, and laxity with a one-two punch. Working on the RNA level, BBL doesn’t just improve your skin, it keeps it acting and looking younger with regular maintenance treatments. When it comes to getting your BBL photofacial in Toledo, you can’t go wrong coming to the experts at Blush!

Broadband light therapy is a trusted solution for helping people enjoy healthier, clearer skin. There is no downtime from your BBL treatment and it’s a fast, noninvasive procedure.

Is BBL a laser facial?

It’s understandable why a lot of people assume BBL is a type of laser, but broadband light photofacials are very different from laser facials! Lasers use one specific wavelength of light to deeply penetrate into the layers of the skin to a fixed depth. BBL can be customized to penetrate a variety of depths within your skin’s layers.

The fixed depth lasers penetrate is typically much deeper, however, than broadband light reaches. That makes most laser facials more aggressive than BBL photofacials. While a more aggressive approach can lead to significant results more quickly, it also means more downtime and discomfort. Photofacials do not require downtime!

For those who want more intense results without the downtime of a laser facial there’s BBL HERO. This is the MOST powerful and versatile broadband light device on the market! HERO stands for High Energy Rapid Output. This means you get incredibly fast treatment time with better results. We treat the face and large areas of the back, arms, and legs in just a few minutes!

What is a BBL photofacial?

We established that BBL is not a laser, so what is it? Broadband light photofacials are a type of corrective phototherapy treatment. Signs of aging, sun damage, rosacea, acne and more are no match for this customizable treatment!

BBL makes for a great “maintenance” treatment because it’s comfortable and has no downtime while providing stellar results. Many of our clients find their skin stays radiant with a BBL photofacial every 3 to 6 months.

How does BBL work?

Broadband light therapy deposits pulses of light energy to heat the upper layers of skin. Targets within the skin absorb the light energy and are destroyed. Targets of the light include fine, broken vessels that cause redness as well as pigmentation and the bacteria that causes acne.

While the light energy corrects uneven pigmentation on your skin, it also works at the RNA level to boost your natural collagen production. RNA, or ribonucleic acid, is a vital component of all living cells. It carries instructions from DNA that control the synthesis of proteins (like collagen).

Now that we know what a BBL photofacial is and how it works, let’s compare it to some of our other popular facial treatments.

BBL photofacial vs IPL

We get a lot of questions about what sets BBL apart from IPL (intense pulsed light). The way we explain it is to think of IPL as the first iPhone and BBL as the iPhone12. You can definitely recognize the similarities, but A LOT has changed since the first iPhone! It’s the same for BBL photofacials versus IPL.

BBL uses the latest technology to access more of the light spectrum for better, safer results. With IPL, we cannot safely treat dark skin and there is less correction for pigmentation and redness. The BBL treatment uses a sapphire crystal with built-in cooling technology and thermoelectric sensors to adjust the treatment and maintain skin temperature.

BBL vs Red Carpet Laser Facial

BBL uses the visible spectrum of light to improve the appearance of uneven pigmentation, superficial rosacea, red spots associated with sun damage, fine lines, wrinkles, active acne, and cystic hormonal acne. It also turns on collagen-making cells (fibroblasts) that were turned off–from an RNA standpoint–around the age of 25 (for the ladies).

The Red Carpet Laser Facial delivers heat into the epidermis and dermis to boost collagen production. It helps to treat Post Inflammatory Erythema (PIE) associated with post acne lesions, deep cystic acne, deep rosacea, large pores, wrinkles, and redness.

BBL photofacials and Red Carpet Laser Facials complement each other beautifully when combined into a customized treatment plan! Just keep in mind you will need about 4 weeks between treatments.

BBL vs chemical peels

Chemical peels help shed or improve the top layer of the skin (stratum corneum) over the course of 3–6 treatments. Regular treatments create improvement in acne, hyper or hypopigmentation, and texture of the skin. Occasionally the top layer of the skin will flake and peel after a chemical peel, so it requires intense moisturizing and can be prohibitive to wearing makeup as you heal.

Chemical peels work on a superficial level, whereas BBL’s energy penetrates deeper. BBL is an expedited treatment that uses pulses of broad spectrum light to address acne, rosacea, pigment, sun damage, actinic bronzing (the tan-like pigmentation that comes from long-term sun exposure) by targeting lower layers of the skin.

Another thing people love about BBL is that it stimulates the body’s RNA to function like it did in your 20s for up to 6 months (give or take)! That’s a science-y way of saying broadband light therapy boosts your natural collagen production so your skin will continue to improve over time. The best results come with 4 treatments per year, but just 1 treatment can keep that boost going.

When you add the whole “fountain of youth” thing in with the fact that BBL fights pigmentation without peeling off the top layer of skin, it’s no wonder BBL is so popular!

BBL vs Moxi

Moxi is a fractional laser facial that improves the surface and texture of skin. Moxi is one of the gentlest laser facials on the market, utilizing laser energy to create micro-coagulation zones in the skin. The body heals those zones with fresh, healthy cells so you look rejuvenated. Unlike many laser facials, Moxi requires minimal downtime after your treatment.

Since Moxi improves the texture and tone of skin and BBL evens out pigmentation issues, these treatments pair together SUPER well. You’ll get smoother, clearer, healthier skin in no time at all with these treatments in your protocol.

BBL vs Halo

Like the Moxi, Halo is a laser facial instead of light therapy like BBL. For folks concerned about physical scarring, pore size, texture, significant sun damage, dullness, or melasma–Halo is best. For those who are happy with their skin texture, but aren’t so happy with excessive redness, browns, blood vessels, or widespread inflammatory acne–BBL is best. Need to address both? We can create a treatment plan that perfectly blends the two treatments for amazing results.

What does broadband light therapy cost?

Broadband light therapy costs vary based on your unique situation. During your skin consultation with our aesthetic experts, we will work together to determine the best treatment options. If BBL photofacials are part of that treatment, we will discuss the number of recommended treatments and the length of time between those treatments.

When we know how we are going to proceed, we tally the cost of your BBL photofacial treatments.

What have we learned about BBL photofacials in Toledo?

Broadband light therapy is not a laser facial, it is a trusted solution for improving the appearance of skin through the use of broadband light pulses.

BBL as we know it is an advancement on the IPL technology which first utilized broadband light for phototherapy.

BBL can be customized to treat a variety of skin issues, including:

  • Rosacea and redness
  • Sun spots
  • Age spots
  • Wrinkles or fine lines
  • Sagging skin
  • Acne
  • Hyperpigmentation

The light energy used in BBL also acts on an RNA level to boost your natural collagen production, leading to younger looking skin over time.

The BBL HERO (High Energy Rapid Output) is the latest and greatest iteration of broadband light therapy, offering more effective treatment in less time.

BBL is most effective when used as a “maintenance” treatment that is safe to schedule several times a year, but is still effective with yearly maintenance if you prefer.

The cost of your broadband light therapy will depend on various different factors, like the number of treatments scheduled and the area (s) we treat.
