Treatments for Age Spots

Don’t Let Anyone Spot Your Age; Reduce Age Spots

An age spot by any other name (like brown spot, liver spot, dark spot) is caused by overactive production of melanin. Exposure to ultraviolet light (UV) accelerates the output of melanin and, while it might first show up as a tan, over time that turns into splotches of hyperpigmentation. Yeah, a lot of us regret all that time in a tanning bed…

But never fear, Blush is here! The best treatments for age spots come from the best aesthetic providers, like the team at Blush Aesthetics. We utilize state-of-the-art imaging technology to assess your skin, arming us with advanced knowledge of your skin’s surface and subsurface issues. In particular, we can separate the unique color signatures of red and brown skin components in order to conquer conditions like hyperpigmentation and brown spots.

What type of treatments for age spots do we have?

Treatments for age spots typically involve targeting the pigment with specific light spectrums and laser resurfacing. Two of our key technologies are the BBL HERO and the Halo laser facial

BBL HERO is a broadband light treatment that uses the visible spectrum of light to improve the look of uneven pigmentation, superficial rosacea, brown spots, and other signs of sun damage and aging. BBL is a light therapy, not a laser facial. As such, it does not break the skin’s surface.

Broadband light therapy deposits pulses of light energy to heat the upper layers of skin. Targets within the skin absorb the light energy and are destroyed. Targets of the light include fine, broken vessels that cause redness and pigmentation.

The Halo laser facial is the first profractional laser treatment, meaning it simultaneously delivers ablative and non-ablative energy.

Ablative treatments are the most intense laser peel available. Ablative lasers treat thin layers of skin, like a deep chemical peel or dermabrasion, with a precision that allows the technician to reduce skin damage.

Non-ablative laser treatments are gentler and give progressive results. Non-ablative lasers do not remove any skin—the light simply causes micro-damage to the skin to encourage natural skin healing.

Fractional treatments, like Halo, are the effective combination of both ablative and non-ablative lasers. Fractional lasers create small holes in the deeper layers of the skin to trigger and enhance skin healing. The skin’s self-healing process creates tighter, firmer, and brighter skin.
