The skin can be a fickle thing. It takes a lot of effort to make it look and feel healthy. Our job is to create solutions for our patient’s skin problems and we love doing it.
For the best quality skin, you need creams, ointments, face masks, and peels. Fortunately, there are methods available to undo seemingly permanent skin damage so you can be proud of the way you look.
At Blush Aesthetics, we understand how much of a hassle skincare can be, which is why we offer a number of laser treatments to treat damaged and aging skin.
But with so many different laser treatment options, how can you be sure which treatment is right for you? We want to take the guesswork out of the equation, which is why we developed this guide to laser levels.
Blush Aesthetics
Before we get into the details of our different laser treatments, we’d like to get to know you a little better. We’re Blush Aesthetics, a premium medical spa in Toledo.
There are a lot of misconceptions about the aesthetics industry, and we’re here to show how beneficial a premium, patient-focused medical spa can truly be.
The human body is a complicated machine, and even with the best intentions, it can be difficult to manage your appearance. Countless outside factors, like the wind, the sun, and even your diet can affect the way your skin looks.
This is why we developed Blush Aesthetics; we want to help educate our patients and give them the healthy, youthful appearance they’re looking for.
Trained Professionals
Blush Aesthetics was founded by Erin Hennessey, an aesthetics professional with 24 years of experience and training. But she couldn’t operate this clinic alone.
Erin has amassed a team of trained practitioners who share her same passions and values. Everyone at Blush Aesthetics has seen the benefits of quality cosmetic care firsthand. They have the knowledge and skills to help transform anyone’s appearance for the better.
Our team understands that aesthetics work is more than just about helping our clients look their best. It’s about helping them feel confident in their skin. Above all, the aesthetics industry is a people business, and we can’t wait to work with you.
Location, Location
We wanted to be intentional about every single aspect of the Blush Aesthetics experience, and a big part of that experience was the look and feel of the clinic itself. The term “medical spa” is an evocative one.
It suggests a combination of quality medical care and a relaxing spa experience, and that’s exactly what we’re trying to cultivate at Blush. This isn’t just any doctor’s office; this is a place where you can receive legitimate medical treatment and relax at the same time.
Now that you know a little more about the Blush Aesthetics experience, let’s take a deeper look into our laser levels and laser treatments.
Major Lasers
If you’re new to the aesthetics world, then the idea of treating your skin with a laser may be a little frightening. But this isn’t a sci-fi action movie; our lasers are completely safe and more than equipped to combat your skin damage.
Lasers can treat a number of skin conditions, like sun damage, aging, fine lines, deep wrinkles, uneven skin tone, pigment, melasma, and acne scars. But how do they work?
Laser treatments work by stimulating collagen production. Collagen is a protein that is vital in the construction of healthy biological components, namely skin.
As these lasers come into contact with the skin, collagen production increases in the treatment area, meaning that new, healthier skin forms in place of the damaged tissue.
Laser Levels
Our lasers vary greatly in their intensity. This isn’t to say that one laser is better or worse than the other. Instead, like any tool, each laser is designed to treat a specific problem.
One laser may be better at treating rosacea, while another may be designed to treat acne scars. We designate the intensity of our lasers through 3 distinct “laser levels.” But what are these levels, and how will you know which laser level is best suited to treat your condition?
The initial consultation is a very important part of the Blush process. It allows us to examine your skin condition for ourselves, so we can ensure that we’re recommending the most effective treatment for you. The consultation process also includes objective evaluation with VISIA technology to determine what levels are needed.
But we don’t want to keep you in the dark, so read on to learn all about the 3 laser levels for our skin treatments at Blush Aesthetics.
Laser Level 1
Laser level 1 is the lowest intensity of our laser treatments. Unlike the other laser levels, laser level 1 does not require the use of a numbing agent. That being said, many of our patients do prefer it.
The downtime following a laser level 1 treatment is often very minimal. You will likely need to refrain from using makeup for 2 or 3 days. Laser level 1 treatments may be an effective alternative to chemical peels.
If you’re struggling with persistent acne, then this may be the right choice for your skin. Additionally, laser level 1—like the MOXI Laser and The HALO laser—is safe for darker skin tones.
Examples of laser level 1 treatments include:
NanoLaserPeel
The NanoLaserPeel is perfect for treating conditions like sun spots, fine lines, and scarring. This treatment is incredibly convenient, and it only takes around 5 to 10 minutes in total. All you’ll need to do is relax while the NanoLaserPeel pulses your skin with concentrated doses of energy.
CoolPeel
Another laser level 1 treatment is the CoolPeel. The CoolPeel resurfaces the skin with the help of carbon dioxide, or CO2. It works to brighten dark spots, fade scars, reduce age spots, and smooth out skin texture. In just 30 minutes, this treatment can help rejuvenate tired, aged skin.
Laser Level 2
The next level of laser intensity is laser level 2! Laser level 2 requires a numbing agent because it treats the skin at a deep or moderate level.
Whereas laser level 1 works as an alternative to chemical peels, laser level 2 treats the skin at a much deeper level than any chemical peel. Ideally, this treatment is designed to be used on older patients, ranging from 40 to 60 years old.
Recovery and downtime is a bit longer than laser level 1. You may notice some bleeding in the treatment area, and you’ll likely need to recover for 3 to 5 days.
Examples of laser level 2 treatments include:
MicroLaserPeel
The MicroLaserPeel is designed to treat pigment irregularities, like discoloration and prominent veins.
Additionally, if you’re suffering from the presence of enlarged, obvious pores, then the MicroLaserPeel can help. In a similar fashion to the NanoLaserPeel, the MicroLaserPeel works by stimulating the face with bursts of laser energy.
ProFractional Laser
The ProFractional Laser is customizable, so, in a way, it can actually fit any of our laser levels. The ProFractional laser is a versatile treatment, one that can treat acne scars, wrinkles, fine lines, and more.
You will likely see the most apparent results after 3 treatments, but be sure to ask your provider what they recommend.
Laser Level 3
Level 3 is the most intense of all the laser levels. The ideal candidates for laser level 3 treatments include patients with severe sun damage and acne scars. We also recommend laser level 3 treatments for patients with deep wrinkles.
Patients who have engaged in activities that have accelerated the aging process like tanning, using tanning beds, or smoking will likely have prominent side effects, including sun damage.
Patients may need to take 7-14 days to recover following a laser level 3 treatment. As a result, we recommend patients schedule a laser level 3 appointment for the middle of winter, as they will need to stay indoors and avoid the sun while their skin heals.
Examples of laser level 3 treatments include:
TRL Resurfacing
The Contour Tunable Resurfacing Laser (TRL) is an ablative laser that is completely customizable. Depending on the needs of the patient, we may choose to operate this treatment at laser level 3. MicroLaserPeels and NanoLaserPeels are both performed with the help of the TRL.
ProFractional Laser
As mentioned above, the ProFractional laser can be operated at a number of different intensities. If we want to treat more severe wrinkles and fine lines, we can up the intensity of the ProFractional laser to meet your needs.
Deep Deka CO2 Peel
The Deep Deka CO2 Peel is another option for deep skin resurfacing. This peel is perfect for anyone looking to clear their skin. Consider this peel if you’re suffering from serious sun damage, surgical scars, or acne scars.
